Internship in Software Engineering

YOUR MISSION:

Yuri Lux GmbH is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join our ScienceTaxi Bioforge Team. In this role, you’ll contribute to the design and implementation of our very first Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for the ground support software of the ScienceTaxi Bioforge platform, working closely under the guidance of experienced engineers.

As part of our team, you'll collaborate across disciplines to help bring project visions to life and meet key milestones. Throughout the internship, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional software development environment and learn how to thrive within an agile team.

Ideal starting date: July 2025 

YOUR TASKS:
The following tasks and responsibilities will be part of your role: 
  1. Design and develop the first Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of the ground support software for our next space system, the ScienceTaxi BioForge, in Java and C/C++.
  2. Participate in laboratory and ground testing to validate the software
  3. Documentation of the procedures and automation of repeated software tasks.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • You are student in final year of an engineering school/master's degree in computer science or software engineering
  • You have software coding experience in Java and/or C/C++.
  • You have a good understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network security.
  • Additional experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python) is a plus.
  • You have experience with collaborative software development tools in terms of IDEs (Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, ...) and git-based collaborative development workflow
  • You are proficient in English both verbal and written. Proficiency in German or French are considered a plus.

Die Yuri Lux GmbH sucht einen Praktikantin im Bereich Software Engineering zur Verstärkung unseres ScienceTaxi Bioforge Teams. In dieser Rolle wirkst du an der Konzeption und Umsetzung unseres ersten Minimum Viable Product (MVP) für die Ground Support Software der ScienceTaxi Bioforge Plattform mit – unter der Anleitung erfahrener Ingenieur*innen.

Als Teil unseres Teams arbeitest du interdisziplinär mit Kolleg*innen aus verschiedenen Fachrichtungen zusammen, um Projektvisionen Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen und wichtige Meilensteine zu erreichen. Während deines Praktikums sammelst du wertvolle Praxiserfahrung in einem professionellen Softwareentwicklungsteam und lernst, dich erfolgreich in einem agilen Umfeld zu bewegen.

Idealer Startzeitpunkt: Juli 2025

DEINE AUFGAEN:

  1. Konzeption und Entwicklung des ersten Minimum Viable Product (MVP) der Ground Support Software für unser nächstes Raumfahrtsystem, die ScienceTaxi BioForge, in Java und C/C++

  2. Teilnahme an Labor- und Bodentests, um die Software umfassend zu validieren

  3. Dokumentation der Abläufe sowie Automatisierung wiederkehrender Softwareprozesse

DAS BRINGST DU MIT:
  • Du bist immatrikulierter Student in Maschinenbau, Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik, Fahrzeugtechnik oder einem ähnlichen Studiengang
  • Du hast Erfahrung mit CAD (idealerweise Catia V6) und FEM-Berechnungen (idealerweise NASTRAN Solver)
  • Du beherrschst MS Office sicher
  • Du bist ein Teamplayer mit Kommunikationsfähigkeiten, unterstützt dein Team, bist gut organisiert und arbeitest eigenständig
  • Du sprichst und schreibst fließend Englisch und idealerweise auch gut Deutsch und/oder Französisch
